Creating a Small Bedroom Office Corner
When Corey and I bought our current home, three bedrooms felt like a great idea. Corey had an office job and I can work from anywhere, so we didn’t feel like we needed an office. But within a few months, everything changed. Now, Corey and I both work from home full time and regularly wish we had an actual office space. Or even two! So, recently, I decided it was high time to create a small bedroom office corner in our room. It’s been a couple of months sine we finished it, and I figured I’d give an update on how we’re liking it so far!
Our Bedroom Office Corner
We debated long and hard about where we wanted to put a small office in our house. There aren’t a ton of options, but we wanted to choose something that was going to work long-term. In the end, we decided our bedroom was definitely the best place for an office. We don’t have a ton of room for a bedroom office, so we had to make some sacrifices to make it work. I brought my big leather chair to our storage unit, and we designated that corner of the room our bedroom office.
It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a quiet place to sit and work, and it’s truly been a game-changer for us. We would both still love to have a more dedicated space, but moving isn’t in our plans for the immediate future. So, this is gonna have to be it!
Bedroom Office Sources
I kept it really simple. A black desk with a couple of drawers. The prettiest rolling chair around. Some floating shelves and a little decor. And that’s it! It’s just enough to feel like a dedicated space without feeling like it takes over the room.
This originally started off as something specifically for Corey. He struggles to work from the dining table or the sofa, and often needs to take calls. But, one we got it set up I quickly discovered that I loved having it. So now, when he’s not working I often find myself sitting at the desk to work. There’s something about sitting in an actual “office” that makes it easier to focus. I feel more productive that way!
This little bedroom office addition has been a great reminder to us about how to get creative in our home. We sometimes feel like we’re outgrowing it and daydream about something with more space. But, in the end, this little home is great for us right now. After all, a bedroom office corner is just as effective as a fully dedicated room!
I always love having the opportunity to really stretch myself when it comes to creativity in my home. There is so much you can make work if you’re willing to put in a little extra effort. I don’t know if our bedroom office will be a forever thing – we might eventually come up with another solution! But, for now, this is working really great for us and I’ve been so happy we did it.
