Friday Finds

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds, Inspiration

Happy Friday! No commentary with the post today because as I write this on Thursday evening I’m preparing to go watch some of my students perform in a musical at my school, so I’m short on time. But I promise all of these posts are worth clicking through on, because the inspiration is awesome. Enjoy!

Friday Finds

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds, Reader Request

Happy Friday!

Am I the only one who thought this week went by at a snail’s pace? I knew it was bad when even one of my kids came into class yesterday and said “It’s Friday!”

I sadly had to break the news that it was not, in fact, Friday.

But today is!

Today we’re browsing around the Craigslist in Chicago for Brooke who just bought her first house – congratulations, Brooke! I found some stuff that I’m pretty jealous of, so hopefully she’ll find something she likes!

(Craigslist Chicago – $20)

(Craigslist Chicago – $28)

(Craigslist Chicago – $175)

(Craigslist Chicago – $95)

(Craigslist Chicago – $150 for dresser and nightstands)

(Craigslist Chicago – $150)

(Craigslist Chicago – $50)

I’m in love with that bedroom set…and that milk glass bowl? So gorgeous!

Find anything awesome on Craigslist lately?

Friday Finds

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds

Thank goodness it’s Friday. I’ve been counting down the days all week – now that we’ve gotten started on the garage, I’m DYING to keep the momentum going. Hopefully we’ll get some more done this weekend!

In the meantime, though, it’s time to check out some inspiration from around the web this week. Enjoy!

I just ordered this stencil as part of my prize package from winning one of the weeks in Creating With the Stars, and I’m SO excited about it. I have absolutely zero plans for where to use it, and no idea what I’ll end up doing, but I’m obsessed with it. I think it looks awesome with the mixed colors, but it would be gorgeous with a single color as well. I love that it’s not a full herringbone pattern – it feels a little more unique and whimsical than the traditional pattern, and it’s just so dang fun!

I’ve seen the little graphic that’s all over the place about how you should hang your windows high and wide, and it’s advice I’ve doled out more than a time or two myself. But I’ve never seen an actual real-life comparison…and it’s mind-blowing! The photo on the left has the curtain rod hung lower and right where the window is, and the one on the right has it hung higher and wider than it needs to be…and I feel like it makes a huge difference in the whole room! I love this visual example of a “design rule” I’ve been following for so long!

I LOVE this look! I’ve been wanting to update our house numbers for a while now, and I never thought to put them on their own little plaque like this. It’s such a fun look and it helps them stand out a little more!

Isn’t that wall treatment absolutely incredible? I’m now officially scouring my house for a good spot to replicate it…because I’m in love!

I’ve seen this project in a million different forms all over Pinterest lately, and I have to admit I’m intrigued. I don’t like the look enough to do it throughout our entire house (and, honestly, something about plywood floors throughout our house just doesn’t sit right with me), but I’m SO tempted to try it out. Depending on what our budget ends up looking like for the garage, we might try this out in here…what could it hurt?!

Friday Finds: South Jersey

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds, Reader Request

Happy Friday! It’s been a long week for Corey and I and I’m pretty pumped that the weekend is upon us. We’ve only got 5 weeks left before summer (!), which is even more exciting.

Today for our Friday Finds we’re headed up to South Jersey for my friend, Mandy. She asked me to do this a while ago but she’s been vacationing for the past couple of weeks so I was waiting for her to return to this side of the world. Now that she’s back, let’s see what Jersey has to offer, shall we?

(South Jersey Craigslist – $35)

(South Jersey Craigslist – $150)

(South Jersey Craigslist – $30)

(South Jersey Craigslist – $40)

(South Jersey Craigslist – $100)

That sideboard is TO. DIE. FOR. And that dresser is looking a bit (or a lot) rough, but it’s got major potential!

What have you found on your Craigslist lately? Anyone else desperate for this weekend to get here?

Friday Finds

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds

I get asked pretty frequently how I manage to find such good things on Craigslist. People always tell me they’re jealous of Austin’s Craigslist because it’s so good.

Well, I like to keep it real around here – sometimes it sucks.

Like this week.

My Craigslist isn’t just that awesome, I’m just stubborn – this week, I looked through 13 pages (which, at 100 items per page is well over 1,000 listings) to find these FOUR pieces. You can see more about how I use Craigslist here.

Told you I’m stubborn.

For those of you who are new around these parts or just don’t understand the purpose of Friday Finds, every week I share some of my favorite stuff from around the internet, and some weeks that stuff happens to be great finds I stumbled on through Craigslist. These pieces aren’t always gorgeous, but they always have potential. The intent is to inspire you and remind you that even though things may not look awesome now, you sometimes have to look beyond the paint job or the fabric.

So, let’s get to the only four pieces on Austin’s Craigslist that piqued my interest this week.

(Austin Craigslist – $200)

(Austin Craigslist – $85)

(Austin Craigslist – $50)

(Austin Craigslist – $290 for set of 2)

Let this week serve as a reminder that sometimes my Craigslist sucks, too. Though, I have to say I think that chair has some major potential – it’d be a pain to recover but the bones are gorgeous!

Anyone else get frustrated with the lack of good stuff on CL sometimes?
