  1. Shows how these “laws” are without real basis. Why? In my neighborhood we are NOT allowed a covered parking space. They say it takes away from the “woodland effect” But only attached garage. But in your area, you MUST have covered parking? Yet neither of our neighborhoods are spectacular. I would like to know what political party nationally and locally in general has driven most of these “ordinances” that will eventually strangle our pursuit of happiness. From vaccine, to bicycle helmet laws to garages to paper bags…I’m sure we would see a trend.

  2. Is the lady trespassing. She has authority over weeds but not inside the house

  3. That sucks so much, you guys. What a nosy, stupid busybody. As if cities have nothing better to do with their time!

    1. It was pretty disappointing!!

  4. Even I am bummed….That beautiful room gone…

But seriously…she was handing citations for…WEEDS? I might be overthinking this but the letter she suggested you write, probably went straight to her.

    ps. Citation for weeds…

    1. RIGHT? There has been a lot of eye-rolling in my house about that over the last couple of months.

  5. I’ve been reading your blog long enough to see this room come full circle! Our HOA always sends us notes the minute our grass gets too high or if we don’t hide our trash cans within 20 minutes of them picking it up (ok that’s exaggerated, but still). It’s super annoying. Sad to see the media room go, but excited to see what you guys do with it!

    1. Oh goodness, how annoying! I’m excited to see it start to come together – cross your fingers for us that we can sell the dang couch so we can actually get started on it!

  6. Ugh! That is bull crap! Way to look on the bright side! I’m cheering you on from my corner of the world. Way to not let them get the best of you!

  7. oh lordy. I can’t believe she went poking around your house! On HGTV (flip or flop) they are ALWAYS finding unpermitted spaces but I never really understood what that meant.

I am sorry that this happened and hope you can make the best of it!

  8. Uhg. I hate hearing stories like this. It makes me so glad that I live in the country where no such things exist. It would make me SO ANGRY to find out someone in that capacity had purposely walked onto MY PROPERTY and peered through the windows. At that point, I would have been talking to her superiors. What a Scrooge that woman is/was!

    1. It’s so frustrating – and it made Corey REALLY want to move out into the middle of nowhere, haha

  9. Wow. That is crazy :S

  10. Dang, that sucks. It would never occur to me that you’d HAVE to have covered parking. You definitely don’t in my city.
