I can’t believe Christmas is over. This whole season just flew by and I miss it already.
Our Christmas was absolutely perfect. We spent Christmas Eve at my parents’ house eating, playing games, and just being with my family. Jackson totally skipped his nap that day because of all the excitement – I was expecting a monster all evening, but he was actually in a fabulous mood. I think being surrounded by everyone you love does that to you.
Corey and I had so much fun playing Santa for the first time. Jackson understands the concept of Santa Claus much better than I thought he would at this age, and he couldn’t stop talking about how Santa would come down the fireplace and put toys in his stocking. He helped me choose some cookies to leave out for Santa before bed, and then Corey and I got to work.
Jackson’s face absolutely lit up when he came down the stairs on Christmas morning and he shouted “choo choo train!”
I had to practically beg him to open his other gifts, because he only had eyes for his train.
And then, he saw the balance bike.
He hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet – he’s still a bit short to do it well, but he adores his bike and is pretty patient with practicing. And it’s pretty dang adorable.
There’s nothing like the mess on Christmas morning, is there?
We got some snuggles in and did some cooking and preparing for our big Christmas Day brunch. Jackson rediscovered our Ergo carrier and decided he wanted to be carried around in it most of the morning. I loved it because he wasn’t underfoot and he loved being involved in all the action. I have a feeling we’ll be bringing this thing back into regular use!
We spent the rest of the day eating (and eating, and eating), hanging out with family, playing games, and taking turns trying out my niece’s new hoverboard. They’re much harder than they look. But also, strangely addicting, and now I sort of want one.
This Christmas was absolutely wonderful and I’m sad it’s over. Jackson is at such a fun age, and I know it’s only going to get better as he gets older and understands everything more!
How was your Christmas?
P.S. Tomorrow morning I’m sharing a project that I’m so incredibly proud of. You don’t want to miss it!
