36 Weeks

How far along? 36 weeks – only four more weeks until my due date! But that also means a possible 6 weeks until Monster actually shows up (don’t know exactly how long my hospital will let me go before inducing – I need to ask about that). Six more weeks is a looooooong time!
Size of baby: He’s about the size of  a head of romaine lettuce – still between 17-18 inches and 4-5 pounds.
Maternity clothes? We were still off work this week for Christmas break, so I pretty much spent the majority of my week in sweats and baggy t-shirts. Not looking forward to actually having to get dressed for work again!
Sleep: Awful right now. Several nights this week I woke up with the most intense heartburn I’ve ever had (despite taking Zantac right before bed) and couldn’t get back to sleep for a very long time. I thought heartburn was supposed to get better as you got closer to delivering, but apparently my body did not get that memo. I miss sleeping!
Movement: Getting a little less frequent now that he’s just about out of room – still frequent enough that I don’t worry, but he’s not doing any crazy acrobatics in there anymore. He does occasionally try to stretch out a foot as far as it will go…and it never goes quite as far as he wants it to. Painful!
What I miss: Being comfortable and sleeping. My body let me be a lot more lazy this week (my restless legs seem to be getting at least slightly better) but I am just so uncomfortable!
Cravings/Food aversions: I’m dying for a good hamburger. Like, a nice, giant greasy cheeseburger with a side of curly fries. Not just any fries – they have to be curly fries. And I want lots of ketchup to dip them in. And a malt on the side. I NEED this meal soon – one of the strongest cravings I’ve had so far this pregnancy!
Other Symptoms: The nesting subsided a bit this week in favor of laying around on the couch watching television, which was fabulous. I have wanted to be lazy this entire trimester but I haven’t been able to, so it felt like such a luxury to actually be able to spend my Saturday lazing around on the couch. My heartburn was way worse this week, and I continue to get a little more uncomfortable in my body every day.
What made me cry this week: It was a happy week – my hormones are pretty stable since I haven’t had any work pressure or anything. I love being on break!
Favorite moment this week: Hitting the point where we have under 30 days to our due date! I’m definitely counting down the days now and it really is starting to feel like the days are dragging, so it was fun to hit a milestone!

A friend of mine is almost exactly at the same point of pregnancy you and swears by pickle juice for the nighttime heartburn! She also tried Zantac and other methods, but says pickle juice is the ONLY thing that worked. It was recommended to her by another new mom.

Um, what? I am most certainly going to have to give this a shot! So random!

My heartburn got worse and worse the further I got along, but my baby was also firmly living in my ribs so maybe that made it worse rather than better? On the upside, it was gone as soon as I delivered (along with the rib pain). You’re so close!
