How far along? 24 weeks – viability!
Size of baby: A cantaloupe – or, a comparison I like better, a Subway foot-long sandwich! Those are wildly different sizes, right? All these comparisons make no sense. Monster’s a foot long and weighs about 1 1/3 pounds.
Maternity clothes? Of course. I bought a maternity hoodie this week and I can’t wait for it to get cold enough for me to wear it. I’m a sweatshirt/hoodie fiend in the cold months, and I don’t think any of my normal ones will fit with the bump. This new one is very cozy and long enough to wear with leggings, so I’m a happy girl!
Sleep: It must have been a growth spurt week for Monster because I have been so incredibly tired all week. I feel like I can’t possibly sleep enough!
Movement: All the damn time. I finally broke down and got a maternity support belt after my OB told me that it will probably help push the baby up so he can’t kick my bladder as much. I’ll do anything I can to get rid of that feeling!
What I miss: Not always having a million layers of clothing around my stomach. I’m wearing full-panel maternity pants (because I refused to buy anything else since I’ve heard the full-panel is the only thing that really fits the entire way through), which means I usually need to wear a tank underneath my regular shirt (so you can’t see the panel), which means I’ve always got about three layers on – and with this new belt, it’ll be four! Thank goodness the weather is cooling off…
Cravings/Food aversions: One day this week I told Corey my head might explode if I didn’t have Captain Crunch immediately. The box was gone about three days later. Oops. I kind of want some more…
Other Symptoms: Braxton Hicks contractions daily – they’re so uncomfortable! And the heartburn has been killer this week – I’m learning that it’s less about what I eat and more about how often I eat…I tend to get it most often when I haven’t eaten in a while, so I’m trying to up my snack intake so I can hopefully keep it at bay.
What made me cry this week: Nothing – score!
Favorite moment this week: My favorite thing ever this week has been that Monster has started to kick and hit at the same time – which means I’m able to get a very real sense of how large he is! It’s so cool – I’ll feel something down low, and about two seconds later feel something else up high…it’s amazing to realize how big he actually is (he’s gotta be getting cramped in there!) and it’s so fun that I can tell how much room he’s taking up now.
