How far along? 20 weeks – HALFWAY!
Size of baby: A butternut squash – huge jump from last week since Monster is now measured head to foot instead of head to rump! Corey was really excited that we happened to have a butternut squash in the house this week.
Maternity clothes? I wear maternity pants to work basically every day (way more comfortable at this point than my regular pants with the belly band), and on the weekends I wear shorts with a belly band, or just stretchy shorts if I’m not leaving the house (see above photo…)
Sleep: Better this week! I went and bought a new body pillow and am now using both my new one and my old one at the same time (one in front and one behind me). It’s shocking how much of a difference it makes in my comfort level at night, and I sleep so much better now!
Movement: Tons and tons of it. My sister and one of my nieces got to feel a little bit this weekend, but by the time they felt it he had stopped the serious partying he was doing before…he had been doing some crazy acrobatics in there, but by the time they felt it, they were more gentle taps. But, I’m telling you, the kid loves to kick! This week was the first time he reacted to Corey pushing on him – usually he stops kicking when Corey rests his hand on my stomach, but one night this week when Corey would push, Monster would push right back. It was pretty awesome!
What I miss: Not much this week, aside from an ache-free body!
Cravings/Food aversions: Still dying for DQ Blizzard (it’s been a couple of weeks now…) and I’ve been craving Cokes a lot this week.
Other Symptoms: The back pain is easing up now that I’ve got my sleeping situation under control, but this was my first week experiencing round ligament pain. One day I had some serious aches in my lower abdomen basically all day unless I was sitting perfectly still. It was awful, and I’m hoping to start doing my prenatal yoga video a few days a week so I can avoid that getting too bad!
What made me cry this week: Stress from graduate school had me bawling on the couch one night this week – it was pretty awful!
Favorite moment this week: Realizing that we can now sometimes tell where Monster is in my stomach. One night my belly looked pretty lopsided, so I started pressing around on it and quickly realized I could tell exactly where he was hanging out! It’s pretty amazing to be able to find him in there, and now that I can do that I can usually get him to start moving with a few pokes and prods! It’s all so much fun!
