How far along? 18 weeks
Size of baby: Monster is the size of a sweet potato – or, as our ultrasound tech said, about the length of a dollar bill!
Maternity clothes? Loving them! I’ve been laughing this week at how much larger my bump looks in maternity clothes vs. non-maternity clothes. The shirt in the photo above is (obviously) maternity, and my bump looks HUGE! But if I wear my regular clothes, you can barely see anything. So funny!
Sleep: I’m starting to get nervous about sleep over the next few months – I’m already waking up with super sore hips and my back killing me…I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse as I get bigger! I already sleep with a body pillow, but I’m thinking about looking into a maternity pillow that might give me some more support…because I can’t handle this much longer!
Movement: Every day! I’ve been laughing at him (did you see that it’s a boy?!) this week because he’s very picky about when to kick…if I have my shirt lifted up (so I can see it), he won’t kick…and if I rest my hand on my stomach he’ll stop. But as soon as I have my shirt down and he thinks there’s no audience, he starts kicking away! I’m pretty sure I saw a few kicks through my shirt this week, and I’m learning what his typical schedule is (dance party every night at 8:00!). Corey felt one kick towards the end of this week – here’s hoping he’ll start feeling more of them soon!
What I miss: Still missing feeling like I can be active without getting incredibly sore. We worked on the nursery this weekend and by the end of the day I could barely move!
Cravings/Food aversions: I didn’t really have any cravings this week! Been eating a ton of pickles, but I do that even when I’m not pregnant, so I’m not sure if that’s me or Monster!
Other Symptoms: Lots of back pain and hip pain when I’m sleeping. I love feeling the kicks every day that remind me there’s definitely a little guy in there!
What made me cry this week: Work! I had a rough first week, and was very emotional and stressed about it – but to be honest, I probably would have cried about it even if I wasn’t pregnant, so I don’t think it counts.
Favorite moment this week: Our anatomy scan! It was so incredible to see all of Monster’s organs and tiny little body parts, and it was so fun to see him squirming around in there. We’ve already determined that we think he’ll have Corey’s nose, and that judging by how much he likes to curl up in a ball, he’ll probably be a snuggler!
