Last week was mine and Corey’s spring break (I may have mentioned it once or twice…I was excited!) and we had a wonderful, much needed break. I’ll admit that we spent a good portion of our break working on Creating With the Stars projects, which means it wasn’t quite as relaxing as I would have liked for it to be, but we still got in a ton of good relaxing and I feel like I can be back at work this week refreshed and ready to tackle the end of the school year.
Today I’m sharing a quick roundup of a few photos from the week (thanks to my resolution to take more photos this year, I made an effort to take a few!) – I was covered in paint most of the week thanks to various projects, so I didn’t take as many photos as I could have, but I managed to snap a few here and there!
We kicked off the break by heading down to San Antonio on Sunday to visit Sea World. It was a pretty fantastic day to go – the weather was cool, the park was practically deserted, and there was even a baby Shamu performing! We had a blast with my sister and her family, and I’m so glad we were able to go. Corey and I get free season passes as teachers, so I have a feeling we’ll be heading back there at least a few more times this year!
I have mentioned on Instagram for those of you that follow me that I’m in the process of going back to my natural hair color. I’m naturally a light-to-medium brunette, but I’ve been dying it almost black for the past 5 years. I’ve loved the darker look, but I’m ready for a change and looking forward to not having to dye it any more. It’s apparently a pretty tough process to come back from box color (especially one so dark) so it’s happening in stages. I’ve been a super dark redhead for the last few weeks after they stripped the color, and over the break I went back to take the next step.
They added some highlights to get it lighter, and, um, it’s definitely different. It’s still got a serious red tone to it (apparently it’s impossible to avoid with my hair even though I’m not naturally a redhead!) and I’m undecided on how I feel about it. I’ll obviously live with it since I have to in order to get back to my natural color, but let’s just say I can’t wait for it to start growing.
We went out to eat a few times throughout the week – it was so nice to be able to go grab lunch in the middle of the day if we wanted. And, of course, way more fun than eating sandwiches or leftovers at home!
All in all it was a fabulous break and I’m sad it’s over. Luckily, after spring break things seem to speed up a bit at school – we’re only two months away from the end of the school year!
Oh, and here’s a random shot of the inside of our bar. I had a request to show a photo of what the inside of the finished bottle storage looks like, so here ya go!
How did you spend your last week? Any other teachers on spring break?
Pssst – Today is the last day to vote for Round 2 of Creating With the Stars! Have you voted yet?
