Friday Finds

Posted by Amanda under Friday Finds

Is it pathetic that I’m already counting down the days until spring break? Because I am (28 days until it officially begins, by the way). And I. Can’t. Wait.

Anyone who works as a teacher can tell you that January and February are the longest months in the year – they drag on forever and ever. Which is why I’m turning to Pinterest even more lately to keep me entertained and inspired as I wait for these slow months to drag by. I’ve found some incredibly awesome things this week that I had to share, so hopefully this’ll help you get through your Friday!

That rug. I’m obsessed (OBSESSED!). It’s a hide rug – it’s composed of a ton of different hides (some are fur, some are leather), so it’s got some amazing texture and it’s gorgeous, to boot. She’s also mentioned that it’s incredibly easy to clean. These go on sale at Joss & Main pretty regularly and I’ve now convinced myself that I absolutely must have one. I just need to convince Corey that he feels the same way.

Um, you’re not going to believe this but that dresser is from Ikea. Talk about an amazing Ikea hack, right? I adore how this looks and wish I had a spot in my house where we could do something like this.

We don’t have a bathroom mirror that’s really large enough to do this, but I love the idea. I think we could definitely do something similar to this in our upstairs guest bathroom – maybe with shelving on either side instead of in the middle? I love that it makes the standard builder-grade mirror look so much more custom and built-in, and it adds some seriously functional storage, too. Oh, and not to mention it looks amazing, too!

I LOVE this idea. The photo is from a furniture store, but I’m now obsessed with the idea of blowing up some sheet music and hanging it as art. It makes such a huge impact, and I love that it’s still neutral. Wouldn’t this be fun to do with a sentimental song?

I’m always looking for ways to make our (awful) closets more functional, and I love this idea! These little wire baskets help corral little items that don’t usually have a good home…and with a little spray paint, they’re cute, too!

As usual, I’m feeling inspired!

What have you been inspired by this week?

We hung music lyrics in the nursery! But that photo makes me wish i’d blown them up first. You’d see them better that way. :/

        A) That rug is STINKING FANTASTIC. (Well, all of her house is, so why wouldn’t the rug be equally amazing? I believe that is something I could get the husband behind. HIDES? ON THE FLOOR? That’s totally wife-approved-mancave material. You know, if we had the room for a mancave. Details.
        2) The Sheet Music. um hello first dance song? Done and done.
        C) I’ve seen wire baskets corraling scarves and stuff, but never purses/clutches. I love that idea!

Holy crap I just realized that my numbering system was completely whack. WHAT the heck coffee you’re totally failing me.

Isn’t that rug amazing? Corey is totally not on board with it yet but I’m sure I’ll get him there soon. I NEED IT in my life, asap!

I was obsessed with the photo of the giant sheet music so I made my own version with Recessional by Buxtehude, which is what we used for our wedding recessional. I found a giant frame at a thrift store, made the image in Illustrator (layering a few bars on top of each other is the key) and blew it up at Kinkos for $5. One of the cheapest projects I’ve done and my absolute favorite!
