Hi, friends! I missed you all this past week, and I’m pretty excited to get back. I have a ton of things to share with you, and a million project ideas floating around in my head that I can’t wait to get started on. I promise I’ll be sharing lots of fun new things throughout the month, but first…I’ve gotta get a bit mushy.
Why? Well, today just so happens to be mine and Corey’s two year wedding anniversary.

Seriously. Two years. I’m having a hard time that it’s been that long since that gorgeous January day when we got married. It’s been a pretty crazy year what with a career change for Corey, a new job for me, a new car, and tons of other little changes along the way. I, for one, and glad this year past year is over – it was a rough second year of marriage (life-wise, not relationship-wise!) and I’m looking forward to getting started on our third year.
We don’t typically do a ton to celebrate our anniversary – it’s a mere two weeks after Christmas, so we’re usually out of ideas for gifts for one another and we’re also pretty low on funds. So, this year as in the past, we kept our celebrations small. On Saturday, we got ourselves all dressed up and headed out to our favorite restaurant, where we celebrate every little event that we possibly can, Melting Pot.

There’s nothing that says “I love you” like fondue, no? We also are total nerds and spent a few minutes geeking out over the fact that we just so happened to get fondue forks that matched our wedding colors. It was meant to be!

After we stuffed ourselves full of amazingness, we headed out to buy our gift for one another. Because we just had Christmas and bought one another a ton of gifts, it seemed silly to buy even more for each other, so we decided on a joint gift. And, since cotton is the traditional gift for a two-year anniversary…we decided to buy new towels!

I know. It doesn’t sound particularly exciting. But, um, our old towels were cheap-o Ross towels that we bought when we were first starting out in college…so they’re like 5 years old, and these aren’t the kind of towels that are meant to last for 5 years. So we upgraded to some fancy Target towels that feel like heaven in cotton form. Seriously, they’re so soft – I couldn’t wait to take a shower after we got them!
While we were at Target, we also found ourselves in the aisle that housed the rest of the Christmas decor that hadn’t been sold yet…and it was 90% off.
I’ll just let that soak in for a minute.
NINETY PERCENT.
We spent a good 20 minutes combing through the aisle and snatching up everything we could…we ended up with 6 bags of stuff for…wait for it…30 dollars. SERIOUSLY. I was positively giddy as we were walking back out to the car.

One of the things we bought was a Christmas dress for Hadley.
No, I’m not kidding. It was 99 cents, completely over the top, and it has a tutu. I couldn’t say no.

We bought an XL hoping that it will still fit her next year…it’s a good thing this dog loves to wear clothes, because I’m taking advantage of finally having a female animal in this house that I can dress up in ridiculous things.
So, all in all it was basically an absolutely perfect anniversary date. ‘Cause spending the evening digging through clearance Christmas decor and dipping stuff in cheese and chocolate is our idea of a good time. Since we already celebrated this weekend, the plan is to spend the evening tonight cooking dinner together, playing a few games, and relaxing. It will be perfect.
Do you do a small celebration for your anniversary, or do you like to go big?

7. January - 8:42 amHappy Anniversary! Our 2 year anniversary is tomorrow and like you I can’t believe it’s already been 2 years and we will be starting our 3rd year of marriage, crazy!
We got some gift cards to help pay for our new couch/arm chair for Christmas, so we are going to call whatever we spend on the couch & chair our anniversary gifts to each other. I realized after we decided this that they actually fit into the cotton theme! I have been wanting some new towels…I’ll have to check out Target’s towels!

7. January - 1:30 pmHappy anniversary! Time flies, doesn’t it? I can’t believe that our 3 year is in May…eek!
We haven’t done anything big for our anniversaries in the past…usually we just go out to a nice dinner and then I make dessert at home (fondue…funny enough. So easy…I like that) and we open a bottle of bubbly. Who knows what we’ll do this year. I wish I could say we took vacations or something….maybe in the future…
