A Christmas Village

One of my favorite decorations that Corey and I have in our house around Christmas is our Christmas village. We started it last year and decided it would be a fun tradition to buy a new piece every year that correlated to something that happened that year. Last year we bought a house under construction, because we had just bought our new home and were working on fixing it up.

This year we had much more to add to our village because a lot of people got us Christmas village stuff for Christmas last year! We got a ton of cute little accessories and smaller pieces, so our village actually is starting to come together much more than we would have expected for our second year doing it!

This year, we bought…

A garage! It’s not very Christmas-y, but it’s adorable and is a perfect reference to the new car we bought this year!

And, of course, as you can see we finally finished off the console. We grabbed some cute knobs from Anthropologie and a couple of big baskets from Target, and I think it’s looking much more “complete” now! And perhaps my favorite thing about it is that it’s the absolute perfect spot for our little village!

I love all of the cute little details in the village, like the campfire, the horse-drawn carriage, and (my personal favorite) the tree stand – complete with blinking lights!

Do you have a Christmas village in your home, or any other collection that you add to every year?

My mother-in-law has a Christmas Village. It is quite beautiful but it takes up so much space! She sets up a 6 foot long table to display all her pieces, and they still don’t all fit! Insane. We collect ornaments when we travel so that when setting up the tree, we remember everywhere we have traveled as a couple. :-)

Your village is so cute! It looks great perched on top of the console.

My mother has quite an impressive village that covers the dining room table and the top of her piano every year! It was always a tradition growing up for the two of us to set it up together. Very fond memories and I hope to start my own village this year!

We have my husband’s village pieces from his childhood, although we’ve never actually taken them out. I do think it would be fun to do a village, but since it doesn’t look like it’s happening this year, then maybe next year.
