Over the last few weeks there have been several, tiny updates around the house that I haven’t shared because they weren’t really worthy of their own post. A vase here, an entry rug there…just some random little things.
We’ve finally got enough new things floating around the house that I thought today would be a perfect time to round up all of the little updates we’ve made – it’s nothing earth-shattering, but they definitely make me smile and I’m pretty excited about the little changes.
Let’s start up in the bedroom. There’s only one update in here but it’s a big one for me.

We found this giant basket at a local flea market that we’ve become obsessed with for – get this – $6! I did a double take when I saw the tag and had to check with the lady to make sure I was reading it right. I was. A measly $6 for this amazing, giant basket. We’re using it as a laundry hamper in our bedroom, which is a life-saver for me because adding in one more alternative to the floor for Corey to put his dirty clothes (we also have a laundry basket in the bathroom) ensures that there’s at least slightly fewer dirty clothes on my floor at any given time. Anyone else’s husbands allergic to laundry baskets?
Back downstairs in the living room is where you can find the vast majority of our little updates. Starting right by the front door, we’ve got our new entry rug – I snagged it from Target for a mere $15! I was worried that Corey wouldn’t like it (we typically don’t have the same taste in rugs), but luckily he did like it (or at least had the good sense to tell me he did), and it stays.

In the gallery wall we added a new print from Ikea that we got for a whopping $0.50 (seriously)!

We also added two new vases to the living room, thanks to my birthday present from Corey.

I’ve been lusting over that coral and blue vase from Anthropologie for a couple of years now, and Corey knows me well. He also found the cute yellow one in the clearance section (my favorite part of the store) and couldn’t resist picking it up too. I love them.

We grabbed this cute basket from Target to help corral all of the dogs’ toys (it says “Etc,” if you can’t see that, since Ranger is in the way). Now that there are three dogs in our house, it feels like my floor is constantly littered with ropes and bones. This helps a little…except that they’re constantly just pulling the toys right back out. Ah well.

We also added a few more things to our bookcase, like this woven magazine holder from Ikea (finally getting the magazines off of our ottoman)…

…and my absolute favorite update of all, my duck bookends!

I found these babies at our flea market for a mere $15, and just about had a heart attack. I’m so head-over-heels in love with them, and I love how they look on our bookcase. They make me very, very happy.
And, that’s where we are right now! Just a few simple updates that make our home feel a little more complete and a little more “us”. Anyone else been making any small changes around your house lately?

It’s from Kohl’s last December-ish. It was technically a Christmas decoration!

3. October - 3:33 pmCan you tell me – since I am too tired and lazy to look it up in your archives – do you have plans to put wood flooring in your master bedroom? I think a dark finish would look so gorgeous with your wall color.

Yes! We fully plan to get dark wood floors throughout the house someday (hopefully sooner rather than later)! We are oh so ready to get rid of our nasty carpet!
