Um, so this isn’t actually an outdoor project – sorry to disappoint.
But it IS a super-exciting post about how Corey and I upped our curb appeal in a pretty drastic way this weekend. Here, let me show you a before and after.
Can you see it?
That’s right – we got rid of this clunky, ugly, 15-year old car…
and replaced it with this shiny, gas-efficient, car of my dreams!
Corey and I have had plans for a while to replace the old (1997!) GMC Jimmy (that my parents bought from my grandparents when I was 16 and had my other car totaled – not my fault!) less because we are sick of driving it – and we are – and more because, um, it wasn’t going to pass inspection this November when it was time to get it checked out. It’s been making funny noises, driving awfully, and it needs some repairs that would cost us well over what it was actually worth.
So, obviously, it was time to get it replaced.
But we definitely weren’t planning on doing it this weekend!
You see, the thing is, we were already at the car dealership because Corey’s car needed some work on the headlights due to a recall, so we decided to walk over and check out what kinds of used cars they had – we knew we were going to be buying soon, so we figured it couldn’t hurt to look.
Well, when we saw this gorgeous 2007 Prius, I knew we were in trouble. And when we decided to test drive it, I knew we were really in trouble.
I’ve wanted a Prius for years, and since we actually managed to find one in our tiny little car budget, I knew it was meant to be. It’s in great condition, has a ton of upgrades, and is just an all-around awesome car. I’m smitten. And it doesn’t hurt to not have such an eyesore in our driveway anymore! I think I may be the most excited about the awesome navigation system and having a CLEAN interior that looks and feels so much better than the old Jimmy ever could have.
So, while this isn’t the most exciting DIY project or front yard update, I’m pretty sure this little switch did a lot to improve how our house looks from the street, and we’re pretty excited about the impact it will have on our monthly gas budget!
Now I just need to give my new beauty a name – any thoughts?
What’s your (realistic) dream car? Mine has always been a Prius! Anyone else name their cars? My first car was called Chester, and the Jimmy was called…Jimmy, obviously.
