A Delicious and Easy Sangria Recipe
Looking for an easy sangria recipe? Look no further! This simple red sangria recipe takes only a few minutes to throw together, is absolutely delicious, and will be a crowd-pleaser every time!
Sangria is probably one of my favorite drinks ever. It’s a perfectly refreshing drink for a warm day, and it’s so easy to throw together.
This recipe is an absolute staple in our home – during the warm months (which is most of the year in Texas), it is pretty much a constant presence in our refrigerator. We bring it to almost every party we attend, and it’s my go-to drink for when we have people over.
Basically, it’s the perfect recipe, and there’s nothing I love more than setting a big ol’ pitcher on our DIY outdoor bar cart and having some friends over!
I’m pregnant this summer, so I’m not able to partake in it like I normally do (what a bummer, right?!) but I’m telling you, this will be one of the first recipes I throw together as soon as our baby boy is born at the end of the summer! Longtime readers may recognize this recipe and post (the photos were taken in our old kitchen!) – it’s actually from a few years back, but I’ve been wanting to try out sharing some more recipes here on the blog and I figured that reviving this one might be a fun place to start. Let me know what you think – if you’re interested in seeing more recipe posts over here I’d be happy to oblige!
But, enough talking about why I love this easy sangria recipe so much – you’re dying to know how it’s done, right? Let’s hop to it.
Let’s start off with the cast of characters:
Easy Sangria Recipe: How to Make Homemade Sangria
A Delicious and Easy Sangria Recipe
This simple sangria recipe is easy to make and will quickly become a staple at all of your gatherings!Â
Ingredients
- 1.5 liter bottle of Cabernet
- 1 can of pulp-free frozen orange juice from concentrate
- 1 can of frozen passion fruit juice from concentrate
- 1/2 can of lemonade from concentrate
- 1 liter of club soda
- A couple of lemons (limes work fine if you don't have any on hand)
Instructions
- Start with the frozen juices. We usually let ours thaw out in the refrigerator or on the counter for a while before using them, because it makes it easier to mix. As noted in the ingredients, we just use 1/2 of the lemonade can and use the other half to make a pitcher of actual lemonade!
- Next, add your wine and the lemons/limes.
- Now you pause to stir it all together – this is important! If you wait to stir until after you add the club soda, you can mess with the carbonation and it won’t be quite as wonderful and fizzy. So take a second now to get it all nice and mixed up.
- Last, add in the club soda!

You can stop here if you want (we usually do) but if you’re having people over and you want to make it a little prettier, you can add some sliced fruit. We’ll sometimes add lemons and limes if we have them on hand, but you can really do whatever you want.
Pretty, no?
Often when we make this, we do it in an old gallon jug that has been cleaned out (we regularly buy gallons of tea, so we just use one of those, but you could use an old milk jug if you clean it out well enough) because it’s the perfect size, it has a lid, and it’s just all-around easy. However, if we’re making it for other people, we’ll bust out a nice pretty pitcher.
And that, my friends, is how you make the easiest, tastiest sangria ever!
It’s addicting – don’t say I didn’t warn you!
What size cans of frozen juice do you use.
12 oz!
Has anyone put this batch in the freezer for a sangria slushy or does it freeze too solid? Then add club soda to the slushy?
I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m absolutely going to now that you’ve given me the idea!
Hi! It looks like I’m not able to find the passion fruit concentrate but I can find it in a carton (already made). Would this work instead? If so, how much would you recommend using?
Hey Kristen! I haven’t ever tried it, but I’m sure it would work – however, it would likely dilute the flavors a bit since it’s more watery. Honestly, I would probably just play around with getting a different flavor of concentrate instead of the passion fruit! I’m sure almost any fruity flavor would work great!
Have you tried making this with a white wine? The tannens in reds are not nice tibme
I haven’t! I can’t drink straight red wine either, though, and this doesn’t bother me at all. I’m sure it would be great with white, though!
I’m having a get together this weekend and I’m going to try this. Sounds delicious! If I wanted to make it for more people do you suggest I double everything? What do you recommend?
Hi Raeanne – sorry for the delayed response! I’d definitely double it for a lot of people, it doubles really easily! 🙂
is this recipe one you can drink right away and not let sit over night?
Definitely! It tastes better the next day, but we always have some the day of!
I cannot find the passion fruit concentrate. Have you ever substituted with anything else.
I haven’t ever had an issue finding it in my store (though I do have to search sometimes!) but if I couldn’t find it I might try pineapple for a somewhat similar flavor!
Hello,
This recipe looks great and I can’t wait to try it! Could you please tell me what kind of wine you use (Merlot, Cabernet, etc)?
Thank you,
Rachel
Hi Rachel! We usually use a Cabernet, but I think you could use just about any kind of red wine that you love!
I’m not a fan of Club Soda. Have you ever used 7 up or does it need the club soda to cut the sweetness of the other juices? Can you taste the club?
I’m not a huge club soda fan either, but you can’t really taste it. It’s mostly just there to add some carbonation! I would think that Sprite or 7Up would be a fine substitute, though it would definitely add some sweetness.
So you use all the other juices and half lemonade?
Correct! We usually just make a small pitcher of lemonade with the rest. 😉 Of course, you can always add in more if you prefer – it’s just a matter of what you like best!
How long can you keep it before it loses its fizz?
Hey Beth! I generally keep it in the fridge for up to a week (if it lasts that long!). The fizz starts to go after about 2 days but it still tastes just as delicious!
How much does this make?
It’s around a gallon or so!
We’re going to a summer get-together this weekend and I’m totally making this and bringing it! It sounds delicious – thanks for the recipe!
Thanks! I’m sure a week is more than anyone needs. (i was hoping/aiming for a weekend, Haha)Wasn’t sure if adding the club soda made it a “drink me today because tomorrow I lose my uumph” kind of situation.
Oh yeah it’s definitely fine over the weekend!
So, I know you’re using less expensive wine and everything, but is the one you use more dry or sweet? Just want to make sure I cheap out in the right direction. 😉 (Also, the name on that wine label nearly made me spit my morning caffeine all over my laptop. Hilarious!)
You know, I have never really tasted the wine by itself. Once all that other stuff is in it I couldn’t tell you if it were sweet or dry to begin. We usually grab the Low Hanging Fruit Cabernet – we have tried many and this is the best so far. Honestly, I think that any Cabernet in the cheap liter section would do. The only one that I haven’t particulary liked was the Yellow Tail, but even then we still drained the jug.
how long does it keep?
Um, it honestly doesn’t last long in our house, but we’ve had it in the fridge for up to about a week and a half with no problems. We’ve never had to throw it out – we always finish it before it goes bad!
Yum. I pinned t his 😛
You know I love sangria.
Yours truly,
Lover of Sunsets and Sangria
