May the First

Posted by Amanda under Off-Topic Tuesdays, Ramblings

Y’all – we’ve made it to May. Can you believe it? I know it’s a bit trite to say, but I feel like it was only yesterday that I was ringing in the new year with my sister and her family, and now we’ve almost hit the halfway point of 2012. My mind is officially blown.

I don’t always love feeling like the time is slipping through my fingers, but I have to say that right now I’m thrilled at how quickly time is passing by – after all, the beginning of May means we only have one month left before school is out! In fact, I’m pretty sure I only have 27 days of school left as of today…not that I’m counting or anything.

This past weekend Corey and I headed up to Dallas to visit his family and to go see a Ranger’s game. I’m not the biggest baseball fan ever (read: I completely and totally hate baseball and will never understand how people can find it interesting) but I had a good time and the trip made me long for the relaxing, hot, and absolutely amazing days of summer. It’s so close I can taste it!

On our way back from the baseball game, we had to drive past one of my favorite places in the entire world, Six Flags, and I told Corey that it was practically torture to have me that close to a roller coaster and not allow me to run in and ride it twenty times in a row. I need a nice day at an amusement park where I can just pretend like I’m a kid and don’t have any responsibilities like a job, a mortgage, or a car that’s falling apart.

It feels silly to be so anxious for summer to come – after all, I know that I’m lucky to even have a break. Most people don’t. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t even more excited about summer than my students are. It can’t get here fast enough!

Do you love summer as much as I do? I think I’d be in love with it even if I didn’t get a two-and-a-half month break…there’s just something about it that makes my soul happy!

Ahh, I hate melting in the heat of summer, but I love that it feels good to get out and there’s always so much more to do in the summer.

I’m not a huge fan of baseball either, and I especially hate crowded stadiums of baseball fans!

I always loved the summer because of the break from school, family vacations and my birthday. Now it’s just more work, but I still look forward to August.

I used to live right down the street from Six Flags when I was a kid! But I was/am terrified of roller coasters, so I only go on a select few of them. Hope you get a chance to go back soon!

We should go to Six Flags this summer!!! We could stay at our house and drive there in the morning and spend all day there!!! It would be sooo fun!

That would be a ton of fun! That should be our second hang-out time, haha.
