One of Those Months

Posted by Amanda under Home, Life, Ramblings

Have you ever had one of those months where you just can’t stay on top of everything?

You know what I’m talking about – when work gets so busy that you literally come home and crash as soon as you get home, and you can’t even imagine doing anything productive. When you get to the end of the week each week and feel like you’ve been to work at least ten times instead of just five. When you get to the weekend and you’re still so exhausted from the week you’ve just had that you can’t even fathom going anywhere or being social (much less doing anything productive).

Yeah, it’s definitely been one of those months for us. The kind of month where we let our lawn grow out to rainforest-like lengths because our mower is broken and we haven’t had time to fix it.

The kind of month where our poor dog gets half a haircut and we never finish because the clippers were acting up and we didn’t have the patience to deal with it.

(This is in the middle of when he was finally getting his haircut, but you can still see his awkward half-cut from a few weeks ago on this side.)

The kind of month where the laundry just piles up higher and higher in the laundry room, and we don’t even have time to put up the clothes that we actually have managed to wash.

May has been a doozy. But it’s almost over (which, by the way, how did that happen?!) and June brings along with it the promise of summer, and a nice long break from work for me. Two and a half whole months where I’ll be able to spend time cooking, and cleaning, and actually keeping our dogs well groomed. It will be fabulous.

But until then, we have to actually try to stay on top of things in our life so the yard doesn’t completely turn into a jungle that our dogs could get lost in when they go out to play. So, this weekend, we decided to re-claim our authority over our house. We spent most of our day on Saturday cleaning up the yard, and now it looks like someone actually lives here again.

And we finished up Cullen’s haircut, so people don’t laugh at him when they come visit.

And we did all of the laundry so Corey doesn’t completely run out of clothes in his closet anytime soon.

It feels so nice to have a little control over the chaos that is our life again, and I’m hoping we can keep the craziness to a minimum at least until summer begins and I actually have time to deal with these things.

Is anyone else having an absolutely insane month?

I went to bed feeling this way last night. This week will be spent catching up on everything here, but I won’t be posting pictures ;)

I’m glad things are starting to slow down! I haven’t felt too overwhelmed, but it does seem like the second I finish something, there’s always something else to attend to! I finally got all the laundry done yesterday, but now the kitchen is a wreck. It just seems to move from room to room.

We just found out we’re moving 1,000 miles away. We need to put our house on the market ASAP, so I’ve been organizing our entire house until the late hours of the evening. I’m exhausted, sore, and oh, yeah-still need to be teaching each day!! I will be SO glad when May is over and I can focus on selling the house with a much lighter schedule. Sigh. Good luck to you in your race to the finish of the school year!
