Projects have been a bit slow around these parts lately, largely due to a lack of funds. We’ve recently had a string of bad luck with expenses – getting sick, car problems, a broken sprinkler system – the list goes on. So, this weekend, instead of working on any projects we stepped away and did some relaxing.
We started off by heading down to Lake Buchanan on Friday for a day of hanging out and fishing with Corey’s family, who was staying there for the weekend. On the way there, we stopped at one of my favorite burger joints in the world – Storm’s. It’s the classic junk food burger, and it’s oh so bad for me but oh so tasty.

And, since we were going fishing, we had to stop by this super classy bait shop to pick up our fishing licenses – welcome to small town Texas!

As soon as we got to the lake, we decided to go have a look around. It’s been forever since we’ve been able to just hang out at the lake, and we wanted to soak up every minute.

And, of course, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to snap a few photos of the beautiful bluebonnets that were growing wild by the lake.

After we got our walk in, we headed back to the campsite for some dinner, and then we went over to a family friend’s house to hang out and fish. They live right on the lake and have one of the most beautiful houses I’ve ever seen – and their yard? I die. I swear, if I lived there I would probably never even go inside.
My favorite feature of their yard? A super adorable, vintage sink that they had converted into a planter. Brilliant!

After ogling the backyard for a while, it was time to go fishing. I’ll admit, I wasn’t very excited because I’ve never found fishing to be the most fun way to spend a night, but I had a surprisingly wonderful time…and I even caught a fish!

And the next night? We had fried fish for dinner and it was the best fried fish I’ve ever had! Something about knowing you caught dinner just makes it taste that much better!
We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with family and watching a ton of How I Met Your Mother (seriously, why aren’t they my friends?). It was pretty much perfect – and I’m hoping to soak up just a little more relaxing time today before I have to go back to work tomorrow!
What did you do this Easter weekend? Anyone else catch any fish?

9. April - 8:11 amSounds like fun! Also, I totally agree about HIMYM! We just started watching it a few weeks ago and I keep telling my husband it makes me feel lame because I don’t have cool friends like that to hang out with all the time.

Thanks – it’s the PhotoStudio app for iPhone (I don’t know if it’s available on other phones) and it has a ton of really fun filters that I was playing around with!

I think the first two are Instagram, and the rest were taken with the regular camera on my iPhone and edited with the PhotoStudio application – I’m addicted to it!
They’ve been fishing all weekend and I’m pretty sure mine is still the biggest fish anyone has caught, haha. I’m proud!
