This was definitely one of those weeks where Friday couldn’t get here fast enough. I got sick on Wednesday evening but had to suffer through two more days of work anyways (well, I’ve only actually survived one so far – we’ll see how today goes), and Corey and I had a couple of pretty catastrophic car-related things happen this week. Nothing like spending a crapload of unexpected money on a car that you thought was in great condition!
But let’s not think about the awful things that happened this week. Let’s focus on the fact that it’s Friday and we’re just hours away from two blissful days of relaxation! And let’s also focus on how I’m (once again) insanely jealous of this week’s finds – we’re in L.A. thanks to Kira’s request (check out her blog if you don’t already read it – I love it!). Kira specifically asked for finds under $100, which is always a bit daunting, but thankfully L.A. stepped up to the plate and delivered some great things.
I’m obsessed with the sleek, mid-century legs on this leather chair. It’s not a look you usually see with leather, and there’s just something about it that stands out to me. I also love the little cutout in the back of the chair – it’s the little things that make a piece unique! I think this would look great in a living room as a bit of a statement piece, or even as a desk chair in a super stylish office!
Drool. I’m in love with this bright yellow, simple light fixture. I want it. This would bring so much cheer and happiness to a kitchen or a small dining room, and I love the rustic (rusty?) metal chain used to hang it – it contrasts nicely with how clean and modern the fixture is. I think this would look amazing in our breakfast nook hanging over our tulip table!
We all know by now that I can’t resist a good dresser – and this is the epitome of a good dresser…and for only seventy bucks! This one looks like it’s a great size – perfect for a media console kind of like ours – and although it definitely needs some love in the form of a new paint job and some updated hardware, it has the potential to be fantastic!
Wingback chairs are all over Craigslist – they’re very, very easy to find but it’s hard to find one with such great lines for such a good price! This one obviously could use some new fabric, but with some more modern fabric it would be nothing short of fabulous. Someone definitely needs to snatch this guy up!
A $10 mirror? Yes, please! There’s not much to say about this guy other than he could use a fresh coat of punchy paint (it also looks great as-is, but you know I’m a fan of a bright mirror!) and it would look fabulous hung anywhere you’ve got some open wall space! Love!
Are you kidding me? $70? For this amazing, giant beauty? I’m in! This has about a million different possibilities as far as what you could do with it, but if it was mine I would give the outside a fresh coat of white paint, paint the back of the inside a punchy color (yellow? orange? kelly green?) and give it some more modern hardware, then I’d plop it down in my kitchen and lovingly rub it every morning while I’m making breakfast. I think I’m in love.
And that concludes our little tour of L.A.! I’ll admit I’m surprised – I expected everything in L.A. to be so expensive that it would be impossible to find anything good, but the prices weren’t awful!
My plan for the day is to suffer through a full day of meetings (seriously, they had to get a half day sub for me, my day is so full!) and then come home, immediately put on my pajamas, and sleep for two days straight. Or something like that. What are you plans for the weekend?
