I normally don’t participate in these types of things when they make their rounds, but I am a sucker for a good round of questions and answers, so when my friend Julia tagged me last week I couldn’t resist.
Here are the questions Julia posed, along with my answers:
Why did you start blogging? I’ve blogged on and off for longer than I care to admit (I had a blog back when no one knew what a blog was!), but I didn’t get really serious about it until I began blogging for Weddingbee a few years ago. It was such a game changer for me to blog for a site that has such an amazing community behind it, and it really opened my eyes to how rewarding it can be. I got into the routine of blogging regularly for the year and a half that I blogged there, and once I was finished, I realized that I didn’t want to stop! So, I hopped over here and haven’t looked back.
What’s your blogging routine? Do you just post whenever the inspiration strikes? Or do you have a schedule or system worked out? I have a pretty strict routine, because if I didn’t I would probably never get around to posting! Weekends are my blogging time, and I usually spend the majority of my day on Sundays planning out posts, taking photos, and writing them up. Then, I go ahead and schedule all of my posts for the week except for Friday Finds (I usually post Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday), and then I’m done until Thursday evening when I prepare Friday’s post! Fascinating, I know.
What’s the best food you’ve ever eaten? That’s a tough one! I will say that the food Corey and I still talk about the most (and drool over…and maybe even dream about) was the food at our friends Mike & Mandy’s wedding. At this point, I honestly don’t remember any of what was served other than the most amazing truffle fries ever put on this planet. Seriously. My mouth is watering just typing about it!
I don’t have photos of the food, but here’s Mandy and I at her wedding!
What kind of travel plans do you have for the rest of 2012? We only have one trip planned this year, and it’s one that we’ve been looking forward to for almost a year now – a cruise! In 81 days (my nieces have a countdown so I’m very up to date on how much longer we have), we’ll be sailing out with my sister and her family on the brand new (giant) cruise ship in Galveston. Can’t wait!
What’s your favorite thing about the city where you live? There are oh so many things I could go into that I love about Austin. We have a never-ending supply of cool local stores and restaurants to check out, it’s absolutely beautiful and full of hills and trees, and as much as I might complain about it, I thrive off of the 100+ degree summer weather. But, if I had to pick just one thing I would say it’s proximity to family. Corey and I spent four years living over two hours away from our families, and it was awful – we hated only seeing them every few months, and I feel like I missed out on a huge chuck of my nieces’ lives. But now? My sister and her family live within walking distance of us, and both of our parents live within a 20 minute drive. It feels so nice to be able to connect with our families more often, and I wouldn’t trade that for the world!

When someone asks you where you’re from, do you tell them the place you were born, the place you grew up, or the place where you currently live? Yes to all of the above! I’ve lived in the Austin area for my entire life (aside from the 4-year stint in College Station, but I knew that was temporary all along – my heart was still in ATX!) and so it’s easy for me when people ask where I’m from! Now, if you want to get technical, I live in a town outside of Austin proper (and grew up in a different town outside of Austin), but we’re close enough that it’s much easier to just say Austin.
What project are you most proud of? It could be anything from crafting to home renovations! Really, that changes every time I complete another project, so it’s almost impossible to say. Right now, it’s a tie between my “home sweet home” art in our hallway, and the pink stripes in our guest room that I tackled all by myself!
What are some of your favorite blogs to read? I read a lot of blogs – I have over 200 subscriptions in my Google Reader, and I love every one! But here are the ones that make me a little bit giddy every time they pop up in my feed…
Instead of tagging anyone in specific, I’m encouraging all of you to answer any or all of the questions that you want to! Leave ’em in the comments or blog about it if you want and link back. I love reading little tidbits like this about other people, so I’d love it if everyone participated!
