This week, Friday Finds is happening in a state that I’ve been more or less obsessed with for as long as I can remember. I don’t know what it is about Maine, but I am beyond obsessed with visiting, and even spent a few brief years of my life absolutely swearing that someday I would live there. I’ve since decided that Texas is probably where I’ll be living for the foreseeable future, but I am still completely determined to spend some time in Maine at some point in my life.
So naturally, when Ally emailed me and asked me to visit Maine’s Craigslist to see what I could find for her, I was insanely excited about the opportunity. I mean, if Maine is half as awesome as I have it played up to be in my head, then the stuff they have up for sale on Craigslist has to be fantastic, right?
Maine, you did not disappoint me.
I’m obsessed with dressers. They are so incredibly versatile and can be used in almost any room for almost any purpose. I’m even more obsessed with them when they are only $50 – seriously?! This one is nice and simple, and I love the variety of drawers that are on it. If I had this in my home, I’d be painting it a nice, glossy black and plopping it down in the guest room – it would fit into the space perfectly, and I think it would look fabulous with a fun, modern color on it!
Ohhhh my goodness. This is another piece that I would LOVE to get some black paint on, but I wouldn’t put it in the guest room. I think this would look absolutely amazing in our kitchen, or even in our living room in the entryway. I love the curvy legs and the detailing on the doors. Those small, square drawers would be fantastic for holding silverware (or keys if I put it in the entryway), and I am pretty sure that the price is a complete steal. This is a piece that I would snatch up in a second if I found it on Austin’s Craigslist!
I’ll buy pretty much any mirror for ten bucks, are you kidding?! I am a huge fan of mirrors (which I realize makes me sound totally narcissistic, but I promise it’s more about how much light they can bring into the room), and I think $10 is a fantastic deal! I like the angled corners on this one, and I think it could be great in a bathroom or in a hallway. The frame is skinny enough that it could be painted in a really bold color and it would look great. I love it!
This one is a bit on the expensive side, but I’m a fan of anything involving reclaimed wood. I love the rustic feel of this guy, and can you SEE the grain on that wood? Beautiful! I am pretty much all over this piece.
No, there are no zeros missing from the price above. These chairs are listed for five bucks. That’s practically FREE! I’m really impressed with the shape they seem to be in, and they look like they could actually be pretty much left alone and they’d look fabulous! Of course, they’d be even more amazing if they were recovered in a fun, patterned fabric – and when the chairs only cost you $2.50 a pop you could probably even splurge on some fancy fabric for ’em!
It is basically guaranteed that I am going to have a huge crush on any piece of furniture with hairpin legs. It’s a sickness, I swear. So, it’s no surprise that my heart stopped beating for a second when I saw this beauty listed for such an awesome price. The wood could use some new stain – I’m totally not a fan of that orange-y tone, but this is a beautiful coffee table!
This piece is so unique – I love how insanely tall it is, and I love those longer-than-usual legs. It even looks like there are casters on the legs, which I LOVE. I think if I was in Maine and could get this piece (which, um, I WOULD), I would paint the dresser itself a nice, crisp white and sand down the drawers and stain them a rich, dark wood. I love the two-tone look right now, and I think this is a dresser that could handle it really well. And now I’m officially REALLY jealous of whoever is able to buy it!
And now I’m even a little more obsessed with Maine. Great. I need a vacation in Maine, stat!
What’s your favorite piece from Maine? Do you have a state that you’re obsessed with?
