Friday Finds: Christmas Edition

I can’t believe how quickly December seems to be going by! On one hand I’m so incredibly excited for Christmas (and Christmas break!) to get here, but on the other hand I want to savor every last second of the whole Christmas season.

Corey and I have managed to wrangle a few more Christmas decorations, and we’re hoping to get those up this weekend – I have to say, we’re ending up with a lot more than I thought we would! Of course, if I had it my way we’d also take on all of the projects I’m about to share, but Corey would probably kill me if I suggested that. I’ll just have to live vicariously though the posts for now.

This little guy has been all over Pinterest lately, and I can totally see why. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and I want to make a hundred of them to put all over my front yard. I’m obsessed with Christmas lights and I think it’s impossible to have too many of them, so I’m definitely partial to this project. Can’t you just picture how cute a few of these would be lined up on either side of a driveway? Amazing!

I. LOVE. Pinecones. Corey and I just got a shoebox full of some (incredibly gorgeous) pinecones from his mom, and I’m trying to make sure I find a way to display every last one of them. Our mantle is already pretty full with our stockings, but if it wasn’t I would definitely be making this pinecone garland to hang on it. I love the rustic elegance of pinecones, and I love how they bring such a wonderful wintery feeling to a room.

I’ve been seeing a ton of ideas floating around for advent calendars with activities instead of treats. For example, an envelope for each day of the month with a different wintery activity for the family to do every day. I love this idea, and I think it’s a great way to make sure that you get to do all of the Christmas season activities that you love without having to cram it all into a couple of days when you realize you’re running out of time. I loved the idea so much, in fact, that I decided to make one for Corey and I! I’ll share more details about it next week, but I’m so excited about it and I can’t wait to get started on all of the activities we have planned.

These are probably the most amazing homemade stockings I’ve ever seen. I love silhouettes, and I adore the simple style of these stockings. They look fantastic all lined up on the mantle, and I love how clean they look without the names on them – the silhouettes are a perfect way to tell which one belongs to who!

When it comes to Christmas decor, I’m all about the trees. I’m a big fan of the rustic, woodsy Christmas decorations, and I think this newspaper tree from Martha Stewart fits the bill perfectly! I might have to go out and buy a few newspapers this weekend just so I can try to make my own.

Oh, I saved the best for last. I became obsessed with this amazing Santa canvas from Bower Power when Katie first posted about it last year, and I’ve wanted to make it ever since. I have absolutely no talent when it comes to drawing, however, so I really don’t think I’d be able to pull it off. But I can dream, right?

And now that I’m feeling completely and totally inspired, I’m off to survive my Friday while I dream of getting the rest of our Christmas decorations up this weekend. Can’t wait!

Do you have all of your Christmas decorations up yet? Anyone else planning on tackling some outdoor lights this weekend?

Love, love, love that first picture of the tree made from just lights!! I’m so sad that our place is filled with boxes instead of decorations, but that just means I can go a little over board next year for missing out this year.

Love the newspaper tree, as well as the rest of these ideas! As to the answer to your question “Do you have all of your Christmas decorations up yet? “…..ha! I wish! We haven’t even put up our tree yet! :-(
