This is definitely one of the not-often-photographed areas in our home. And for good reason – it’s a complete mess.
This is the wall across from our bed, and as you can see we haven’t done much of anything to it since the day we moved in. There even still an unpacked box under the white table. Classy.
To be honest, the reason we haven’t done anything to this area yet is because we haven’t decided exactly what we want to do. We know that we’ll be running the cords for the television back behind the wall so they aren’t visible, and we know we’d like to get a piece of (larger) furniture to sit underneath the television and hold our DVD player and Wii, but we haven’t made any concrete decisions yet.
I feel like technology is such a hard thing to incorporate into a well-designed room, because it’s almost always just not pretty. I’m hoping that we can land on a solution that will hide as much of the box-y technology as we can and that won’t draw too much attention to the television (kind of like our dresser-turned-media-console in the living room). Of course, we have so many other projects and ideas that take priority over fixing this little area that it’s probably going to stay ugly for the foreseeable future. Maybe someday we will get the technology in our room more integrated into the design, but for now we’ll just live with it sticking out like a sore thumb.
Have you found any brilliant solutions for incorporating technology into your home’s design?
