I’m back with a quick announcement that I’m very excited about.
You may have noticed a new feature over on the right sidebar…something from a little company called BlogHer.
That’s right – I’m excited to share that I’m officially a member of BlogHer! What does this mean for the blog? All it means is that you will begin to see ads on the right sidebar (and once I figure out the code, there will be a second one at the very top of the page) and it may end up meaning some fun reviews and/or giveaways from BlogHer sponsors.
I know a lot of people are anti-blog ads, so I want to make a few promises to you right now:
– I will never have ads that pop up on you, scroll across the screen, or otherwise impact your ability to actually enjoy the site. I plan to keep all ads off to the side (or the top) and in discrete, non-annoying places.
– I have tried my best to tell BlogHer the types of ads I do not want appearing on the page (political ads, baby products, etc.) but I promise that I will stay on top of that and make sure that the things you are seeing ads for are actually things I am okay with endorsing. If you see any ads on my page that you find offensive or that you’d just rather not see, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll do what I can to take care of it.
– Lastly, I promise that I will only do reviews or giveaways of products that I truly like and that I would be willing to pay money for. I’ll never do a review for a product I don’t truly believe in, and I’ll always be 100% honest in everything I say on the blog. Along with that, I promise that the reviews (if any) will be rare and will supplement, not take the place of, any regularly-scheduled content.
I’m really excited about this new opportunity for the blog and I hope you are too! Please let me know if you see any problems with the ads or if you have any questions or concerns – I want to be 100% transparent about the process, and because you guys are the most important part of this blog, I want to make sure you are always happy!
And with that, I’m off to bury my nose into website coding webpages so I can figure out how in the world to make all this work. Wish me luck!
