I have to admit, I was pretty surprised by the results of last week’s lamp color poll.
The comments were pretty mixed, but the actual poll showed very decisive results – 50% of you agreed that yellow was the way to go.
Why was this surprising? Because yellow was a total last minute addition that Corey and I tossed in just so that we’d have three options. We originally had it narrowed down to just purple or silver, and as we were shooting photos for the post, he decided to grab a yellow candleholder from the living room, just to have an extra choice. Neither of us ever thought it would be the popular opinion!
However, I have to say that once I got the post up and running and saw the photos all next to each other, yellow was definitely my personal favorite. I love the way it brings out the yellow in the bedspread, and I love how it pops against the walls. Silver was my original top choice, but I think that once the bed is painted white, silver might feel too cold next to all of the white features, and we’ll need something to warm it up a bit.
Purple was Corey’s choice from the beginning, but he’s coming around to the idea of yellow – and he doesn’t get to complain since we agreed we would paint it what the masses wanted…and the masses want yellow!
So, this weekend I brought the lamps out to the workshop and got to painting.
And in a matter of hours, we had some brand new (looking), punchy yellow lamps!
I love how they look in the room, and it kind of blows my mind to think how much our bedroom has changed in a matter of months. In September, it looked a little something like this:
And now, thanks to new garage sale nightstands, a bold new bedding set, and our fun yellow lamps, it has a whole new life.
We love how it’s coming together and starting to feel so much more “us”. We still have a long way to go in this room, but we’ve got a really good start towards a room that we’re going to absolutely adore!
Do you agree with “the masses” and like the yellow lamps? Would you ever let someone else make a design decision for your home?
