Corey and I were so excited to find this vintage fair at the Round Top antique fair earlier this year. We had been looking for a cute, vintage fan to keep in our bedroom to replace the monstrosity of a standing fan that we use to keep us cool in the insane Texas heat. We loved the look of this guy and poured a lot of time and energy into a serious makeover for it.
The only problem? A few weeks after the makeover, it stopped working. We sent it to the fan hospital (aka: my dad’s workshop) and it came back to us in beautifully working condition…until about a week or two later when it stopped working. Again.
We’ve officially given up on actually using this fan, and we plan on replacing it with a vintage-looking fan that has a modern, working motor (something like this), though I doubt we’ll have the heart to actually get rid of it. I’m thinking someday it will find a new home as a decorative piece somewhere around our house – and until then it will just sit there and look cute (and be completely useless) in our bedroom!
Have you ever had high hopes for an old piece of equipment to work, only to have it totally disappoint you?
