Allow me to be blunt for a moment: I absolutely hate this little area of our house. It’s awkward, completely un-usable, and really just kind of ugly.
This little area behind our couch kind of just fell together on the day we moved in – we didn’t have any better place for any of these pieces, so they ended up all together, hanging out in the corner. And it drives me crazy every time I see it.
In all honesty, I like the mirror there. It adds some much needed height to the room, and I am all about a full-length mirror. But the chair is completely useless, even though the area wouldn’t really work without at least something to balance out the mirror. It’s really just an awkward and horrible situation.
The long term plan? Corey is going to build a nice, tall bookcase to plop down in this area, so we can keep the height but add in some functionality. Our little elephant will probably stay there, because he actually works well in that corner, and I like having him somewhere that he’s very visible – because he makes me happy!
But, until the bookcase gets built we’re stuck with this messy little situation. I just try not to look at it too much.
Do you have any awkward vignettes in your home?
