I’ve had curtains on my brain lately. Maybe it’s because my living and dining rooms are completely lacking in color right now and I can’t wait to get some visual interest in there, or maybe it’s because I haven’t done a project in weeks and I’m just itching to get started on something.
Whatever the reason, I cannot wait to get some curtains in my house, and I’ve been spending a lot of time lately looking for ideas. Curtains aren’t cheap, and since we have such tall ceilings, we’ll be needing extra long ones, so I’ve been especially thinking about alternate ways to make curtains.
Of course, my go-to idea is buying some fabric and making myself some curtains from scratch! I’ve been looking for fabric for a while now, and I’ve found some pretty great options – it’s hard to choose just one!
I’m definitely drawn to the last one, because it’s got more color than just yellow, and I am hoping to bring all of the colors in that fabric into our house in some way, so it seems perfect. However, we’ve got a lot of windows and that’s a pretty bold fabric – I’d hate to overwhelm my house with these flowers (though, we aren’t planning on making curtains that will actually cover the windows. We never close our curtains, so they’d be purely decorative – it wouldn’t just be a big, long wall of fabric!)
I like all of the other options as well, but I worry they’d be too much yellow. (yes, I really did just say “too much yellow.” Who am I?!) Of course, we could also go the route of turning a tablecloth, shower curtain, or some sheets into curtains, but I haven’t found anything in any of those categories that I really liked enough to make me want to put it all over my house.
I’m sure we’ll come to a decision on this curtain issue eventually, but for now I’ll just keep waffling back and forth. In the meantime, which fabric do you like? Do you have any other places you like to shop for fabric, or and places where I might find some great alternate materials to use??
