Saturday was mine and Corey’s four month wedding anniversary. We like to celebrate the little things in life, so we had talked about going up to campus and spend the day reminiscing about our college experience – I figured that’s what we’d do to celebrate this little milestone.
However. Corey had other plans.
After we got up and had breakfast, he presented me with two envelopes and told me that I had to choose one.
I was completely caught off guard, but immediately very excited! I’m a huge, HUGE fan of surprises, and I absolutely love it when Corey plans dates for us.
Dinner and a movie is usually our go-to date (which we love), but like I said – I’m a total sucker for surprises and I couldn’t resist the idea of “something else”. So, I chose that one!
Corey told me that I needed to dress up a little, and I was super excited to have the chance to get a little fancy for a date. We don’t go out often (and when we do, it’s usually very casual), so this was a huge deal for me.
We hung out for the rest of the morning, and then that afternoon we got all gussied up and got ready to go!
Before we left, I wanted to snap a photo of us all dressed up for our anniversary…of course, that’s always way harder than it sounds. The first photo we tried to take turned out looking like this:
Awesome. Love the action shot. Plus, um, hello Xbox controller, laptop, and other random crap. Definitely don’t want that in my photo!
So, we tried again.
Oh look – I have a headless husband.
One more try…
Theeeere we go!
With our photo finally taken, we were ready to head out!
Where were we going? I had no idea.
We ended up at the Houston Galleria for a couple of hours of window shopping before dinner. I was incredibly excited to find that the Galleria has a store that I have been absolutely dying to try ever since I saw it featured on the Food Network…

Yes!! Coolest candy shop ever!

While we were there, we couldn’t resist grabbing some chocolate. We were so overwhelmed by all of the awesomeness in the store, so it took us a while to settle on what we wanted.
I’m so obsessed with all of the cute packaging! We ended up with a dark chocolate with sea salt candy bar (adore the letterpress packaging on it!), and an assortment of other chocolate candies. Chocolate covered oreos, chocolate covered gummy bears…yum yum yum!
Once we finished up at the Galleria, it was time to head over to dinner.
Where were we going? Only to my favorite restaurant ever in the whole world. Melting Pot!
They change up their menu every few months, and they had just changed the menu a couple of weeks ago, so we were excited to find that there was a new selection for us to try out!
I’m bad at remembering to take photos of my food, but I did snap a shot of the shrimp ceviche salad that I had – oh so wonderful!
This dinner was hands down the best experience we’ve had at Melting Pot in the five years that we’ve been going there. So, so good!
As I mentioned earlier, Corey had plans for us for after dinner (which happened to be a trip to an aquarium slash theme park in downtown Houston that sounds like a lot of fun) but we were so stuffed and satisfied with the day as a whole that we decided to call it a night and head home.
It was an absolutely perfect four month anniversary, and I love that my sweet husband surprised me and took me out!
Do you like surprises, or do you prefer to know what’s going on?

9. May - 11:04 amI’m not going to try and hide my jealousy!!! My hubs suggested Red Lobster for our one year anniversary and, no offense to Red Lobster but it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. (AKA, I really wanted Melting Pot. Haha)
Corey wins the sweet hubs award! How awesome that he surprises you like that.

11. May - 9:57 pmOk so I know I’m late to comment (I just stumbled across your blog), but if you haven’t been to the aquarium in Houston yet you should definitely go! Even if it’s just for dinner (their food is so good), it’s neat because the dining room is in the middle of the aquarium so fish are swimming around you while you eat…it’s pretty cool!
