I promise this won’t become a regular feature, but I just can’t resist sharing today.
On Saturday, Corey and I were in Austin for a Dashboard Confessional concert. We’re both obsessed with Dashboard and have been for some time now – I think I’ve been to 6 of his concerts!
Before the show my sister, Jennifer, and I had the chance to do a meet & greet with Chris, and I’d be lying if I said we weren’t totally freaking out about it. He’s such an incredibly talented musician, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty gorgeous too (What?! He is!). We got to hang out with him for a few minutes, and take some photos.
Before he left to go back to his bus, he offered to do some autographs for all of us who were there for the meet & greet.
Neither Jennifer nor I had thought to bring something for him to sign, but Jennifer happened to be wearing her Chucks, so he signed those. He went through the 10 or so people that were there and everyone but me had something for him to sign. Oops! He was really sweet, though, and felt bad that I didn’t have anything. So, even though I told him it wasn’t a big deal, he insisted on finding something for me.
When we couldn’t find anything, he pulled out his wallet (!!!!!) grabbed a pick out (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and signed it for me.
I almost died right there. He happened to have two in there, so my sister ended up getting one too. Best day ever? YES.
I kind of felt bad for the other people who standing there looking on jealously…but not that bad.
Anyways, that’s not the point of this post.
One of the opening acts for Chris was a guy named Cory Branan. I’d never heard of him before, but it only took him about 45 seconds into his first song to fall in love. He’s hilarious, talented, and has a totally unique sound. He’s easily the most entertaining live performer I’ve ever seen.
Warning: There is some NSFW language in the video (Video via YouTube)
I usually don’t listen to music when bloggers post it, but just trust me on this one and listen. You won’t regret it!
We bought the two cds he had at the concert and then I immediately searched for him on iTunes when we got home and bought everything else I could find. He’s that good.
Have you found any good new music lately?
